GastroShow 2026 in Istanbul

Zero Waste and Gastronomy Tourism Association President Gürkan Boztepe’s Moderation Take Centre Stage

Zero Waste is not merely an approach to environmental protection; it is a strategic responsibility shaping the future of gastronomy and tourism.

Reducing food waste, conserving natural resources, supporting local producers and promoting sustainable consumption habits are all essential to the future of the gastronomy sector.

From restaurants and hotels to local producers and tourism businesses, adopting these principles can contribute to both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency. GastroShow 2026 brought this important message to the forefront of the industry in Istanbul.

GastroShow 2026 Where Gastronomy and Tourism Meet

Organised through a collaboration between the Gastronomy Tourism Association and Rota Exhibitions Turkey, GastroShow 2026 took place on 9–10 October at Taşyapı Şişli in Istanbul. The two-day event brought together representatives from gastronomy, tourism, culture, the arts, the public sector and private industry, attracting considerable visitor interest.

This year’s main theme, “Zero Waste,” shaped the event’s sessions, talks and industry discussions. Addressing Türkiye’s potential in gastronomy tourism on an international scale, GastroShow covered a broad agenda ranging from sustainability and global partnerships to cultural exchange and new market opportunities.

VakıfBank, DOKURU and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality were among the event’s main sponsors. The stands of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Anadoludakiler and artist Seval Özcan were also among the areas attracting interest. Catering services were provided by Tepe Gourmet.

Gürkan Boztepe’s Moderation Added Value to the GastroShow Programme

One of the prominent figures at GastroShow 2026 was Gürkan Boztepe, President of the Gastronomy Tourism Association. Known for his work in developing gastronomy tourism, promoting Türkiye’s rich culinary heritage and strengthening connections among industry stakeholders, Boztepe moderated several sessions during the event.

His contribution to the programme, particularly around the GastroTalks gathering featuring researcher, journalist and photographer Coşkun Aral, helped bring participants from different fields together to explore subjects at the intersection of gastronomy, culture and travel.

Gastronomy tourism extends far beyond the promotion of food. It offers a multifaceted way to introduce a country’s culture, history, production traditions and way of life to the world. This makes events that unite industry representatives, academics, local authorities, tourism professionals and cultural figures increasingly important.

The Gastronomy Tourism Association’s role in a comprehensive gathering such as GastroShow is significant in this respect. By bringing different sectors together around shared priorities, the Association helps increase the visibility of Türkiye’s gastronomy tourism expertise and creates opportunities for new partnerships.

GastroTalks with Coşkun Aral

Where Gastronomy, Culture and Travel Intersect

One of the highlights of GastroShow 2026 was the GastroTalks session featuring researcher, journalist and photographer Coşkun Aral.

Bringing together gastronomy, culture and travel, the discussion highlighted how food is not limited to the kitchen; it also reflects the collective memory, geography and cultural identity of societies.

The participation of Coşkun Aral, whose work spans international journalism and photography, provided an opportunity to consider gastronomy tourism through the perspectives of cultural storytelling and travel. The session was another example of GastroShow’s approach to bringing different areas of expertise onto a shared platform.

GastroShow 2026’s Message: Sustainable Gastronomy, Stronger Tourism

Through its sessions, talks and industry gatherings, GastroShow 2026 highlighted that gastronomy tourism is not merely an economic activity. It is a multifaceted field closely connected to the environment, culture, local development and international promotion.

Placing Zero Waste at the heart of gastronomy tourism sends an important message about reducing food waste, supporting local producers and conserving natural resources. Turning this approach into lasting results depends on continued cooperation among public institutions, private businesses, local governments and civil society organisations.

Organised through a partnership between the Gastronomy Tourism Association and Rota Exhibitions Turkey, GastroShow 2026 brought industry stakeholders together in Istanbul, once again highlighting Türkiye’s gastronomy tourism potential and the growing importance of sustainability.

astroShow 2026, Türkiye’nin Gastronomi Vizyonunun Amblemi Olacak

Programda, GTD Başkanı Gürkan Boztepe tarafından Taşyapı Şişli adına Tuğçe Çotuk’a GTD rozeti takdim edilirken; Rota Fuar Genel Müdürü George Panorgias ve Mert Duman’a teşekkür belgeleri sunuldu. B2B görüşmeleriyle Türk üretici ve ihracatçıların uluslararası satın almacılarla buluşturulması hedefleniyor.

GTD Başkanı Gürkan Boztepe: “10 Yıllık Emek, Taklit Derneklerle Zedeletilmeyecek”

Basın kahvaltısında konuşan GTD Başkanı Gürkan Boztepe, derneğin 10 yılı aşkın uluslararası deneyimine ve 2.000’i aşkın üye sayısına dikkat çekerek, GastroShow’un dünya çapında ulaştığı noktayı vurguladı.

The Critical Role of GastroShow 2026 in the Gastronomy Vision

GastroShow 2026 Will Become the Emblem of Türkiye’s Gastronomy Vision

Led by GTD, GastroShow 2026 will strengthen Turkish cuisine on the global stage, focusing on sustainability, zero waste, exports, and international collaborations. The association’s determined and ethical stance against imitations continues to be a symbol of trust and quality in the sector.

GastroShow 2026 Will Become the Emblem of Türkiye’s Gastronomy Vision

Led by the Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD), in collaboration with Turkuvaz Media and Rota Fair, GastroShow 2026—taking place on October 9–10, 2026, at İstanbul Taşyapı Event Center—was introduced at a press breakfast held at Crowne Plaza Harbiye. The event saw the participation of GTD Chairman Gürkan Boztepe, Rota Fair General Manager George Panorgias, Turkuvaz Media Deputy General Manager İsmail Arıcı, and UCLG-MWA Deputy Secretary General Ali Murat Duman. Tuğçe Çotuk, representing the venue sponsor Taşyapı Şişli, was also in attendance.

A Major “Zero Waste” Themed Event

GastroShow 2026 is positioned as far more than a fair; it is a strategic platform carrying Türkiye’s potential in gastronomy, tourism, production, and exports to the international arena. The event, held for the 4th time in Türkiye and the 8th time globally, has “Zero Waste” as its main theme. Key agenda items include reducing food waste, sustainable production, protecting natural resources, and the circular economy.

During the program, GTD Chairman Gürkan Boztepe presented a GTD pin to Tuğçe Çotuk on behalf of Taşyapı Şişli, while certificates of appreciation were given to Rota Fair General Manager George Panorgias and Mert Duman. Through B2B meetings, the aim is to connect Turkish producers and exporters with international buyers and forge new trade links.

GTD Chairman Gürkan Boztepe: “10 Years of Effort Will Not Be Undermined by Imitation Associations”

Speaking at the press breakfast, GTD Chairman Gürkan Boztepe highlighted the association’s over 10 years of international experience and membership exceeding 2,000, emphasizing the global reach of GastroShow. Boztepe stated that efforts to boost the global visibility and export potential of Turkish cuisine continue with determination.

Boztepe also addressed the issue of imitation associations:

“Unfortunately, structures have emerged that try to gain advantage by exploiting the trust and reputation we have built over years of hard work. We are not against other associations operating in the same field; our main sensitivity is the imitation of our labor and corporate identity. This is both unethical and something we are fighting through legal processes.”

GTD Board’s Strong Warning: “Imitation Is Theft of Labor”

In a statement on behalf of the GTD Board, it was noted that imitation of the association’s name and corporate identity causes serious confusion in the sector. An expert report was obtained in the case file numbered 2025/179 E. at the İstanbul 1st Civil Court for Intellectual and Industrial Rights, which stated:

“The name and corporate identity of the Gastronomy Tourism Association are being used by others to legitimize their activities or present themselves as more reliable. This constitutes unfair exploitation of the association’s labor and reputation; all rights to compensation are reserved.”

GTD officials emphasized that legal action against such unethical initiatives will continue decisively, and all measures will be taken to protect the sector’s reliability.

International Success and Future Vision

It was noted during the meeting that GTD has carried Turkish cuisine to the world through international events in countries such as New York, Dubai, Moscow, Nepal, Burkina Faso, Romania, and Ukraine, and that GastroShow 2026 will be Türkiye’s most important gathering point for this success. Plans are also underway to re-organize GastroShow abroad and hold international gastronomy events in different countries.

Support Message from Rota Fair

Rota Fair General Manager George Panorgias expressed his belief in Türkiye’s gastronomy and tourism potential, stating that GastroShow offers a unique opportunity for international buyers, investors, and industry professionals. Panorgias noted that the fair would directly contribute to Türkiye’s export goals.
